DAY 7: Outdoors

"Weather Forecast" is a mandatory application in every cellphone in United States, it would be a great app to check even in India but i guess we Indians prefer surprises *wink*. So on foreseeing a lovely intermittent sunny day, we decided to bask in the sunlight and smell new clothes as we went for shopping.

I forgot to mention the mail man delivering gift for the baby at home :)
Reaching the highway, I marveled over the width of the road, 4 lane road on each side with an array of branded car showrooms- BMW, Mini, Nissan, Jaguar, Audi, you name it and u have it on the road. On my left, I saw a number of restaurant chain I knew already courtesy American soaps, like Dunkin' Donuts, Starbucks, Ten 45 Diner and various U-shaped compounds engulfing assorted marts like DSW (Designer Shoe Warehouse), Baths Bed and Linen, Macy's, BabiesRUs, and many bistros'.

Gazing at the Area boards, I realized the cities are changing in every 15 mins or less in New Jersey state. Going from Mahwah to Ramsey, then from Ramsey to Allendale, and then from Allendale to Ho-Ho Kus was a matter of just 45 mins at 80-100 kmph speed. My face splitting grin at the car's alacrity, larger then life car showrooms, tempting fashion stores and mouth-watering food joints left my face aching for long, lol! Shopping at Kohl's was one experience- so many clothes, shoes, accessories and lifestyle under one roof and high discounts on all made me virtually ponder over my wishlist. It took us 3 hours to hunt down every section of this monumental store and purchased a pencil skirt in black leather, over sized pullover in silver, grey leopard print night jumpsuit, lacy dress in grey again and a tailored white satin coat. Nothing feels as sated as a big bag full of new shopping.

Christmas Bonanza from Walmart
Reliving my famished stomach, we decided to dine at Burger King and its TENDERGRILL Chicken Sandwich reminded me of McChicken from McDonalds but with a fluffier bread and extra mayo.
By the way America's every restaurant gives bottomless soda which means you can refill it as many times you want.

Until next time, Laters...

DAY 5: Baby Shower

Last evening was spent with alot of action and helping hands, with alot of laughter and lethargic steps, with alot of Mexican cuisine and live band too. Preparing a Baby shower party in accord with the American culture was an exemplary experience.

The wet Sunday morning curtailed our guest list but not our enthusiasm. Systematic movements and timely actions, kick started our function.
"Can I take your coat" is the dialogue of a good host in America and I managed to be an earnest one along with the rest of my family. Combination of Whites and Brown in public and food was extremely genial and light-hearted games filled everybody's heart with unnumberable zeal.

Friends and folks in New Jersey
The party concluded with the host's heart warming speech and left everybody in the hall with ''ohhs and ahhs'' and the favorite part of my day arrived with unpacking the gifts and amused expressions by all on the tininess of our presents.

DAY 2: The Departure

Butterflies finally found their way in my stomach on reaching New Delhi airport.. Bidding my last good bye to my kin and BFFs, Mom and I made our way towards our long journey and its overly long procedures to reach our destination.

Au revoir !!
Boarding time
Teetering towards the economy class, I happened to see the first class and its bliss. extra long seating, extra big TV, extra attendants and I am sure extra space for its traveler's moneybags. The big menu to watch programs from on every TV and step down restrooms was absolutely exhilarating in Lufthansa flights.
Two hrs halt at Munich, Germany was a relief to my weary bones but as soon as I stepped out of the cabin, moving in the glass passage, I felt even before seeing the chill around me emanating from the city, the whole land in front of my eyes was covered with snow and the hot blows coming out of my mouth made me grin ear to ear. Witnessing my first snow is definitely a sight to behold for me.

The first snow of my life

On my way to Newark from Munich in the flight, I recognized my new love in drinks, Sparkling Water with ice and a hint of Lemon in it.. and the pleasure of getting it in your hand on your every call and without delay was simply hedonistic.
Seeing only whites and blondes around yourself on Newark airport can undoubtedly make you forget your own skin color for once and believe that you are a resident of this country too but i was back in reality soon :p
The sight of my family in the face of my sister and brother-in-law lighted every limb in my body forgetting my fatigue caused by the 19 hr journey. Twinkling lights and cold waves of New York was very welcoming too.
